Michael Recchiuti - San Francisco Chocolatier

We first found out about this chocolate from a book called 'The Chocolate Companion A Connoisseur's Guide by Chantal Coady'. The name is Michael Recchiuti. In this book, it has been rated 4 stars where the french chocolate Jean-Paul Hevin get a 5 stars. Another reason we got to taste it is because it's location! It is just located in San Francisco. Really close to us that we just drove one hour to the Ferry building to get it. Of coz, the second time we just replace an order online for delivery!

Michael Recchiuti began his chocolate life as a boy, baking Italian wedding cakes alongside his grandmother in Philadelphia. As a young man, he created plated desserts at reowned local restaurant, Le Bec Fin, and later trained with Alain Tricou (Maxim's, Le Cirque) for three years in sugar and chocolate. This awoke a passion for chocolate and innovative flavor combinations, and soon he was traveling west in search of fresh and exotic ingredients. After 10 years of experimentation, where he developed some of his now famous flavors-Tarragon Grapefruit, Lemon Verbena, and Star Anise and Pink Peppercorn- Michael finally launched Recchiuti Confections with Jacky, his wife. His philosophy was that 'once you introduce truly exquisite chocolates to people, they will be won over instantly and forever.' When the new Ferry Building Marketplace opened in 2003 near the Embarcadero district of San Franciso, Michael jumped at the chance to open his store in the renovated historic building. There, he now sells his artistically decorated creations: the chocolates feature drawings, etchings, and paintings from his favorite San Francisco artists, or Japanese block prints, inspired by his Hawaiian wife.
