Dragon Boat Festival - 端午节2009

Busy, Busy, Busy! Everyday is like this. You can't believer how busy you can get. Not much time to rest but always need to think ahead for the son and the husband. I am not just talking about cleaning the house, washing clothes and cooking every day. It's the mental thing, I mean emotionally everyday I don't have a schedule of my own but for the family.

Just this morning I had to prepare Joshua to school and Kenny for work. After drop off, dirty dishes in dishwasher, dirty clothes in the cloth washer. I started the clean up of toys for the play date tomorrow. It seems like not enough time to do lots of things, it was the time to pick up Joshua from school. After came home started cooked lunch.

At 1:30, we went to the new school's kindergarten orientation. All parents went into the Gym for the information meeting while all kids lead by the teachers to their new classrooms. Some details on how to drop off and pick up the kids in September. Something about specific glue sticks and vinyl erasers we have to get. There is even one kindergarten assessment in August which I am not worried. Finally the orientation ended at 2:30, but we got stuck inside the parking lot until 3:00! Bad traffic jam even for the kindergartens. I wonder if I need to walk to school for pick up! Heh! Joshua had a good time at the new classroom. This year because the budget cut on education and schooling, the teacher to students ratio gona be 1:30! Therefore school was expecting parents help out in class. Anyway when Joshua woke up from nap today, we need to start on spelling and reading again.

Dragon Boat Festival 5th day of the 5th lunar month The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice(糯米)wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves) and racing dragon boats. The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes. This regatta(赛舟会)commemorates the death of Qu Yuan , an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. __________________________________
